Truth On The Senate Floor – Senator Bernie Sanders

October 2, 2012

For a very long time now we have known that ‘change’ must come to Washington. President Obama tried and tried again for that change to manifest and yet we see him still blocked by the last vestiges of the old regime. Not long ago something very important happen in the Senate. It was not a bill being voted on or another Senator being elected. It was truth being spoken on the Senate floor. This rarity occurred not once but many times over the last two years.

The Occupy Wall St. movement has seen a lot of opposition against them but it would now seem that the movement has an ally within the Senate. Without stating it openly Senator  Bernie Sanders has taken up the cause of the movement and provided a voice of reason in a place where campaign donations come before critical thinking.

“The American people are angry. They are angry because they are living through the worst recession since the Great Depression,” said Bernie Sanders said on the floor of the Senate.

“There is very little concern for the American people and their well being.” This was outlined in detail by Senator Bernie Sanders an Independent from Vermont. His speeches shown at the bottom are expressively clear in describing the factual truth of the situation within Washington and Wall St.

“It is very clear to anyone who is study the issue that the people at the top are doing very well while the middle class is disintegrating,” Senator Sanders. “The US is turning into a banana republic.”

FACT: The top 1% of Americans earned 23.5% of all income
FACT: The bottom 60% of Americans Earn less than 2% of all income

–   Wall St Execs are earning more money now than before the bail out
–   The US has by far the most unequal distribution of wealth in the world
–   Record breaking deficit is taking the side lines with the tax breaks for the top 20%. The highest priority of most senators is to give more tax breaks to the wealthy. Some even want to eliminate the estate tax.
–   Eliminating the Estate Tax would cost the US $1 Trillion in a 10 year period.
–   Virtually all products that are sold in the US are manufactured in China. This is because of lower labor costs and production costs. Not outsourcing jobs to China would cost the manufacturing companies millions of dollars.

“The middle class is struggling for its existence.”

“The real unemployment is closer to 15%.”

“If you’re getting bored by just owning coal companies and casinos and manufacturing plants, you now have the opportunity to own the United States government,” Sanders said.
